At the end of an amazing day in London, I happened to stumble upon the BirchBox pop-up shop on Carnaby Street. I had about 7 minutes to browse before we had to head off to catch our train. While my patient partner waited outside, I went in hoping to gain some understanding of the BirchBox cult.
I won’t lie, I kind of wanted to hate it. And at first, I did. My initial impression was that it was crowded and expensive. All the full-sized products I picked up were quite pricey. I was wandering around the store a bit lost when a salesperson came over. When I explained that I was a bit overwhelmed by the crowds and prices, she walked me over to the back where you can build your own box.
For £15 you could choose 5 products. Each product had to be taken from a different section: two make-up sections, two skincare & body sections and a hair section. At £3 a product, I was really pleased with what I got. She also threw in a couple of samples for me to try, which made the whole experience even more worthwhile.
Well BirchBox, your pop-up worked, I’m hooked! I signed up for BirchBox later that week. I’ve since received both the April and May boxes. Their packaging and branding are fantastic. Both times I’ve come home to an adorable pink box filled with 5 new goodies to try out! What I love about BirchBox is that it gives me the chance to try beauty products I would never normally buy myself. Not only that, but it arrives straight to my door. It’s really an optimal service for a lazy girl!
At only £12.95 (including shipping!) BirchBox is also pretty good value. Overall, I’m thrilled with my BirchBox. I can’t wait to see what they send me next month!
